Life
Sixty-three years and as I near my end what (if anything) have I learned?
The most difficult of all truths….
“Above all, don’t lie to yourself”.
“The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to a point that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others”.
“And having no respect he ceases to love”.
~— Fyodor Dostoevsky (The Brothers Karamazov)

Sixty-three years in and what do I know?
I know this…the more I think I know, the more I know I don’t know that much at all (Riff, 2022).
“To regret one’s own experiences is to arrest one’s own development. To deny one’s own experiences is to put a lie into the lips of one’s own life. It is no less than a denial of the soul” (Oscar Wilde).
